School Discipline

Merrydale School-wide Discipline Policy

Classroom Rules

1.        Enter and leave the classroom quietly.

2.        Follow directions the first time they are given.

3.        Raise your hand for permission to speak.

4.        Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.

5.        Work quietly without disturbing others.

Each teacher will have their own procedures and routines.  These routines allow for efficient use of school time.

Consequences  Conduct reports will be sent home weekly for parents signature every Thursday, to be returned on Friday.

Students will receive a warning when they have violated a rule.  If the student continues, the conduct report will be marked and the student will lose points from their weekly grade.  A student who consistently violates rules and disrupts instruction will be subject to assignment to the Time-Out Room.

Serious disruptive behavior will be handled according to the “EBRPSS Rights and Responsibilities Handbook”.  Please read and keep the book for reference.

Students who maintain good conduct grades consistently will be recognized each 9-weeks.  Your cooperation and support are greatly appreciated.

Zero Tolerance Policy

EBRPSS has a zero tolerance for fighting amongst students.  The policies for this and other offenses are detailed in the “Rights and Responsibilities Handbook”.  Merrydale personnel will adhere to all of the policies and procedures of the handbook in dealing with student behavior.

Participating in or provoking a fight are major offenses.  Suspension or expulsion are recommended consequences.  The school administration has the discretion to call school security officers (sheriff)  with respect to students under the age of 14.
